How to use VidVisual

1Add a thumbnail

You have four ways to bring an image in:

• “+” button — opens a file picker (you can select multiple images at once for bulk testing).
• Paste — copy any image anywhere, then press Ctrl+V on the page.
• Drag & drop — drop files straight into the picker dialog.
• Formats — PNG, JPG or WebP up to 8 MB (YouTube's recommended specs).

Your images are processed only inside your browser — nothing is ever uploaded.

2Fill in the video details

The Add New Video dialog makes your file look like a real listing:

• Video title — shown exactly like YouTube's two-line titles.
• Channel name — rendered under the title next to your avatar.
• Duration — custom badge text, e.g. 12:45 or 1:02:30. Leave blank for the default 10:30.
• Category — sorts your card so chips can filter it later.
• Channel logo — optional round avatar for full realism.

In bulk mode the channel, duration, category and logo stay filled — only the title resets between images.

3Judge it in the feed

Your card appears at the top of a populated YouTube-style grid — never on an empty canvas. This matters: thumbnails only work in competition. Scroll the feed and honestly ask whether yours still stands out next to the others.

• Category chips filter the feed to compare against one niche.
• Shuffle reorders the feed so your thumb sits beside different neighbours.
• Dark / light mode (D) flips the whole UI — including the YouTube logo.

4Run the checks

Click any of your cards to open the preview studio:

• Size presets — Desktop, Mobile (~402px) and Sidebar (~168px). If the design survives the sidebar, it survives anything.
• Dark + Light toggle — renders both themes side by side.
• Safe zone — highlights where YouTube's duration badge covers your art.
• Readability — contrast analysis that warns you when text dies at small sizes.

5Compare & export

• Compare mode — hit the ⋈ icon in the app bar, pick up to three thumbnails, press Compare for a true side-by-side.
• Competitor spy — paste any public YouTube link above the feed to place real rival thumbnails next to yours.
• Export PNG — download the final preview to share with your team before publishing.

⌨Shortcuts & data

• A add  •  S shuffle  •  D dark mode  •  Esc close anything
• Your added thumbnails persist on this device via IndexedDB even after refresh.
• Reset feed (in the ☰ drawer) clears everything back to demo videos.
